Humphrey Gouverneur

Ir. Humphrey M.T. Gouverneur (Advisor and Supervisory Board Member)

Humphrey Gouverneur (1950) is an Advisor and Supervisory Board Member of Ecopower International.  Mr. Gouverneur supervises all project development activities. He currently resides in Curacao (Dutch Caribbean).

He has 33 years of experience in seawater desalination and power production in all its phases. Mr. Gouverneur is a member of the “Koninklijk Instituut van Ingenieurs (KIVI)” and is the founder and first elected President of the Caribbean Desalination Association (CaribDA), He has also served as a Director of the International Desalination Association (IDA) from 2008 up to 2010.

Professional Experience

After a brief stay at the water distribution company of Curaçao in 1977, he joined the Curacao water and electricity production company in 1978 and has been directly involved with seawater desalination and power production ever since.

Apart from the operation aspects of desalination and electricity generation, he has gained also vast experience in project management and was involved in all the company’s expansion projects since 1979.

He has held different positions in the company and from 1999 up to his retirement at the end of 2010, he has served as Director of Production of Aqualectra. Since then he formed his own consultancy company, Water and Power Engineering B.V.

Education

He holds a masters degree in mechanical engineering from the Technical university of Eindhoven, The Netherlands.
